Dual native ISO
“The color palette for New York had to contrast with the tropical megacity of Singapore,” says Černjul. "Within Singapore, we encountered different cultural and socio-economic environments that we also wanted to highlight visually. I am very satisfied with the way we coordinated, despite having little preparation time. We watched a lot of Hollywood romantic comedies, from the classic era, precisely because we did not want Crazy Rich Asians looked nothing like them. “We wanted the film to have a timeless cinematic look.”
Černjul had previously worked with the VariCam 35 on a previous project and was impressed with the camera's dual native ISO settings, which provided greater flexibility to meet tight shoot deadlines. “I felt comfortable combining different ISO settings, even in the same scene,” he admits.
For its part, Sivashankar Kuppusamy, of Panasonic, says that “we are pleased to see the great quality and versatility of the VariCam Pure brought to life through major production companies such as Warner Bros.
