No news

Before its launch in Spain, HBO Max has already given the green light to the start of production of the six twenty-five minute episodes of the Max Original No news, a comedy about how a seemingly routine police surveillance operation ends up completely out of control.

Based on the Australian format No Activity, the series is produced by Warner Bros. ITVP in Spain for HBO Max. The adaptation will be directed by Rodrigo Sopeña (José Mota's time, LOL) who, together with Alex Mendibil (Camera Café), has co-written all episodes.

The cast is headed by Arturo Valls, Carlos Areces, Pilar Castro, Adriana Torrebejano, Toni Acosta and Omar Banana, and will feature cameos and special appearances by other comedians throughout the series.

Miguel Salvat y Antonio Trashorras will be the executive producers of HBO Max while Clara Nieto It will be executive produced by Warner Bros. ITVP Spain.

The series follows two police officers on a night watch, two inspectors who coordinate the operation from the police station switchboard and a couple of criminals, all of them waiting to “take action.” However, when nothing really happens, they begin to fill the silences with anecdotes and stories about their intimacy to end up exposing their oddities, secrets and true personalities along the way. This boring night watch will unexpectedly become the most important case of their lives.

Sebastian Mogilevsky, general director of Warner Bros. ITVP Spain and Portugal, comments that "since we started this project, we knew we had something very special on our hands. The humor of No news lies in the relationships of the characters, the interactions between them, and the seemingly meaningless conversations they have while they wait. The secret of the series is in the combination of a very powerful script and a fabulous cast of comedians. Fortunately, we have both.”

Miguel Salvat, executive producer of HBO Max, adds that “No news It is an opportunity for the biggest names in comedy in Spain to unleash their enormous talent. “We know that this is a format that has had great success globally and now, in the hands of some of the best and brightest comedy talent in Spain, on and off screen, I am sure it will be a success here too.”
