V-600UHD, Roland's new 4K HDR multi-format audio and video mixer makes its debut at ISE 2019

Along with the powerful and light V-600UHD mixer, Roland presents at its stand at ISE versatile proposals designed for event production or streaming programs such as the VR-1HD or V-02HD mini mixer.

The star of Roland in WHEREAS in Amsterdam it is V-600UHD multi-format video mixer, a proposal that, thanks to Ultra Scaler technology, allows working with both HD and 4K HDR signals, a resolution that is increasingly widespread in high-level events.

The V-600UHD uses high dynamic range (HDR) technology, with a frame rate of 60 Hz and a refresh rate of 30 Hz. In addition, it supports wide color gamut (WCG) in both the BT.2020 specification, as well as RGB and BT.709 standards.

It also includes internal processing with 10-bit color depth, with 4K content 2,160 pixels high, DCI or Cinema 4K 4,096 pixels wide.

The new mixer has four HDMI 2.0 inputs and two 12G-SDI inputs, each of which independently supports the input and scaling of Full HD, UHD 4K, DCI 4K and PC resolutions from UXGA to DCI 4K without the need for external converters.

The configurable multi-screen monitor allows users to view all sources, schedule and preview them on a single HD screen.

The outputs support downscaling to Full HD for feeding streaming encoders or other destinations with HD displays, allowing users to connect the output directly to an LED display driver with the required pixel dimensions.

It also offers the ability to mix two images in one picture in picture (PnP), with customizable aspect ratios, size and scaling of the input source.

As for audio, it has high-quality 24-bit and 48 kHz audio processing, allowing it to be disembedded from a signal and sent to an external sound mixer. Program audio from the same audio mixer can also be embedded into one or all of the video outputs to feed program video to a steam encoder, recorder, or overflow room.

VR-1HD, un estudio ‘plug and play’

For those who want to produce video and audio streaming in a simple way, Roland's proposal is the VR-1HD AV mixer.

The VR-1HD features three HDMI inputs, each accepting a variety of HD and computer-based video resolutions. This allows you to connect, mix and stream different sources, including cameras, presentations, video games in action and even smartphones and tablets without having to think about resolution compatibility.

Audio from these sources can be mixed with the two studio-quality XLR microphone inputs and the dedicated line input. Additionally, its dedicated controls and top-mount microphone input (with optional gooseneck microphone) allow the user to work hands-free in complete comfort.

Among its numerous functions, the automatic switching between cameras stands out based on who is speaking into its microphone. If both people are speaking at the same time, or if no one is speaking, the VR-1HD can switch the broadcast to a wide shot showing both presenters, for example.

With the Beat Sync Switching function, this Roland solution switches the output by inputting images from different camera inputs based on the playback tempo or the music in a DJ performance.

In addition, thanks to the VR-1HD's auto mixing function, the different audio inputs do not compete with each other, maintaining a balanced sound. It's even possible to set certain inputs to highest priority so that when a presenter, for example, ceremonies starts speaking, the other audio levels are automatically reduced.

V-02HD: mixer, scaler and expander all in one

Events or productions often bring serious challenges that are easily solved with solutions like Roland's new versatile V-02HD multi-format video switcher. It is an all-in-one that includes a simple mixer, high-quality scaler, input expander, audio solution and online video effects/compositing.

Small production teams, limited budgets and strict deadlines mean that a simple two-camera shoot can be stressful. Recording or streaming with a live switcher allows you to present a production to the client with immediate delivery and the V-02HD makes the entire process quick, easy and seamless for the camera operator.

The V-02HD takes the HDMI output of two cameras and seamlessly switches to a connected device, be it a recorder or livestream encoder. The operator can then switch between cameras using the dedicated controls or even using their feet, via a connected footswitch/switch allowing them to continue operating their camera.

Audio from both cameras and external sources can be mixed within the V-02HD and monitored via the dedicated headphone output. Finally, the resulting mix is ​​embedded together with the video switcher and output via HDMI. The V-02HD transforms a two-camera session into a small, one-person production studio, providing reliable recording or live streaming, even with minimal resources.
