ChyronHego debuts in Las Vegas, Fresh, a new graphic rendering solution that integrates the Unreal Engine 4
ChyronHego's new offering keeps graphics within the Unreal scene, making it faster and easier for producers to tell a better story.
ChyronHego presented today in NAB 2019 Fresh, a new solution graphic rendering that integrates the Unreal Engine 4 (UE4) two Epic Games with the software augmented and virtual reality of ChyronHego.
Fresh promises to make news, weather or sports seem more real than ever because AR graphics, including text and titles will be fully integrated into the Unreal scene.
Alon Stoerman, senior product manager of live production solutions at ChyronHego, notes that "with ChyronHego Fresh, news, weather and sports producers no longer have to struggle with multiple types of render engines and toolsets, which can result in different degrees of quality. Now, Fresh offers a complete graphics solution that is fully integrated into the Unreal scene."
"This means producers can tell a better story and engage viewers through high-quality AR graphics that look better than graphics created with traditional rendering engines. They are also able to do this faster and easier than ever, as Fresh can be operated as an integral part of the rundown. These are truly unique capabilities in the industry and meet a huge requirement for our broadcast clients," he adds.
Fresh includes a robust library with 3D graphic objects, including text, which is fully integrated into the EU4 environment. This feature allows producers to add eye-catching titles and other 3D elements quickly and easily without having to re-render them for the game engine.
The integrated library distinguishes Fresh from other AR broadcast graphics systems that require broadcast elements to be created in a traditional graphics rendering engine and then added as a separate layer on top of the Unreal scene. Not only does this requirement add more time and complexity to the process, but the resulting graphics lack the realism and “look” of the Epic Games engine.
With Fresh, however, graphics are rendered as part of the UE4 scene and they have the same photorealistic and hyperrealistic look as the other elements in the scene.
Through a seamless integration with CAMIO from ChyronHego, Fresh enables a unique, MOS-driven workflow that automatically incorporates any AR/VS element into the station's familiar news environment. This integration makes it even easier for producers to tell a better story because the AR graphics are part of the news summary along with all the other graphic elements and all the other parts of the broadcast lineup.
Additionally, Fresh offers a unique zero-delay feature that, when used with ChyronHego's robotic tracking head solutions, eliminates the need for additional equipment and complex audio processing to compensate for delay between AR/VS elements and other content.
