Video, audio, control and IP monitoring stand out in Lawo's growing portfolio of solutions
Video and audio networks are converging at an incredible pace, and broadcasters are rethinking their infrastructure. Lawo responds to this challenge with numerous new solutions.
As pioneers of the application of IP to broadcast environments, Theirs comes to this NAB 2019 with a wide portfolio of solid and effective solutions.
Andreas Hilmer, director of marketing and communications, says that "every time broadcasters meet, the topic is IP. Video and audio networks are converging at an incredible pace, and broadcasters are rethinking their infrastructure. We don't just talk about IP... we do it! We have contributed to the success of our clients in more than 50 large real-world IP projects."
There are numerous new solutions with which the German manufacturer comes to Las Vegas.
One of these proposals is its multi-screen. Lawo adds support for compressed OTT formats to its multiviewer application V__matrix vm_dmv infinitely expandable.
The LiveView decoding engine allows Lawo's V__matrix vm_dmv multi-display to display production (ST2110/ST2022-6) and compressed streaming (HEVC/H.264/MPEG/OTT) formats on the same screen for end-to-end visibility. The engine is a pure software application, running on COTS x86 servers or as a virtualized appliance.
Now offers full support for compressed and uncompressed 4K/UHD, 3G, HD and SD formats. Linearly scale to any size adding more V__matrix C100 processing power. The integrated IP and software-defined nature of V__matrix provides a future-proof solution for any project – baseband SDI, hybrid or pure IP. It supports embedded and discrete audio, and works with pixel-perfect tiling with ultra-low latency. Intuitive drag’n’drop designs are easy to make with Lawo’s “theWALL”.
SMART
On the other hand, Lawo has added new Auto-Topology, PTP Monitoring, Cloud and Data Storage features to the Real-Time Telemetry and Monitoring Solution. Sistema SMART.
Premiering at NAB 2019, SmartDASH's Auto-Topology Microservice automatically discovers, records and documents IP network topology, and presents device status in real-time. Additionally, the new PTP monitoring microservice detects, classifies and analyzes PTP at the network layer, acting as a locked and referenced receiver for essential timing measurements for video, audio and data streams. New features include automatic PTP detection, type modes, histograms, slave ports, and lock status.
SmartDASH can now also run on virtual machines and in the cloud to perform network device analysis of cloud-based applications, for example virtualized broadcast channels. SmartDASH is compatible with solutions based on AWS, Google, VM Networks and others. The new SmartDS is a complementary data storage solution to SmartDASH, allowing users to log and store months of alarms and data, recording everything from network bandwidth to signal loss.
SmartDASH's reporting feature can access and analyze SmartDS data to create comprehensive reports for the operations, engineering, and management levels of an organization. Last but not least, SmartSCOPE now supports SMPTE ST2110-20/21/30/40 and ST2022-6/7 live production video formats, in addition to its compatibility with existing broadcast formats. As a result, SmartSCOPE enables integrated monitoring of compressed and uncompressed flows in high-capacity hybrid systems.
Audio production
In terms of audio production, the dual-level control panel for mc2 56 audio consoles and ultra-high-density DSP engine A__UHD Core It is another of the novelties.
In its debut in the United States, the option Dual Fader Panel for Lawo's IP-based mc²56 MkIII console supports up to 144 faders in a very compact size. The dual fader option incorporates Lawo's revolutionary LiveView thumbnail technology, placing previews of video sequences on fader strips. All faders on the console can be equipped with the new dual fader module or the standard fader module with extended free control section.
Also debuting in the US and ready to ship, the A__UHD Core, a software-defined IP audio DSP engine for mc2 consoles, supports 1,024 mc² DSP channels with all the features a single mc² can use for the most demanding productions or shared across up to four consoles. Eight independent 10/1GbE network interfaces with SFPs enable the use of redundant networking through the ST2022-7 protective switch (SPS). The total network I/O capacity of the A__UHD Core is 40,000 channels of 48 kHz/24-bit audio.
Also outstanding in its portfolio are the A__stage high-density audio nodes for WAN and LAN applications.
Remote production
Power CoreRP from Lawo is a new all-in-one IP audio remote production solution with modular I/O and integrated WAN capability. Only 1RU, Power CoreRP features low-latency in-situ audio processing for IFB monitoring and mixing of up to 64 inputs, 64 processing channels and 16 stereo AUX buses, with full remote control of relevant channel parameters from the channel rows of the mc² consoles. A touch screen graphical user interface is available for on-site and remote operations. Power CoreRP is the perfect companion to Lawo's V__remote4 video contribution solution.
Finally, for on-air radio, Lawo exhibits at NAB the VisTool Solo touchscreen user panels and new functions for the ruby radio mixing console
VisTool Solo is a lightweight version of Lawo's VisTool GUI-Builder software, for use on Windows touchscreen tablets. Broadcasters can create single-page graphical “user dashboards,” replacing hardware with an elegant touch-based graphical user interface tailored to the talent workflow. A vector graphics library with buttons, rotary knobs, faders and meters allows you to create selection panels, microphone on/off/mute controls, clock/timer displays, and even allows you to control virtual fader talent. Perfect for host, producer, guest and news positions, or as a convenient checkpoint for engineering facilities.
Lastly, the Ruby mixing console Debuts SMPTE ST2022-7 Seamless Protection Switching, adds separate and simultaneous AoIP network links for seamless networking in mission-critical applications. Sleek, intuitive, and powerful, Ruby's customizable, context-sensitive touchscreen graphical user interface provides a smooth, integrated workflow that complements familiar physical controls for error-free operation in the fastest production environments.
