Filming of the comedy 'Six Current Days', third feature film by Neus Ballús, begins
Produced by Distinto Films and El Kinògraf, the peculiarity of the project requires the film to be shot in six alternate weeks, which will allow the protagonists to combine filming with their usual work.
After To the wound and the recent Staff Only, Neus Ballús has started filming his third feature film Six ordinary days. The script is by Neus Ballús herself and Margarita Melgar, the pseudonym behind which Montse Ganges and Ana Sanz-Magallón are found.
Produced by Miriam Porté to Distinto Films y The Kinograf, Six Current Days is a comedy that combines fiction with elements borrowed from reality. All the characters that participate in the film are non-actors who play themselves. The project was born from the impulse to explore prejudices in human relationships in a comedic way.
Six Common Days tells the story of a week in the life of Valero, Moha and Pep, workers at a small plumbing and electrical company on the outskirts of Barcelona.
The film is made up of 6 chapters that narrate the situations that arise when the protagonists face a repair. Each chapter corresponds to a day of their work week and is built around the relationship established between the protagonists and the client who has requested their services. Under a layer of humor, lightness and everyday life, the stories offer elements for deeper reflection.
Six Current Days preserves the sensitivity of its author, but the tone, the picturesqueness of the characters and their eccentric clients turn the proposal into an original and fun comedy.
The peculiarity of the project requires that the film be shot in 6 alternate weeks, which will allow the protagonists to combine filming with their usual work. Each of the six chapters will be filmed in a different location in Barcelona and surrounding areas.
Filming will end on July 31. It has the participation of Radio Televisión Española, Televisió de Catalunya and Movistar+. With the support of ICAA and ICEC. And with the impetus of the Pompeu Fabra University. The film will hit theaters through Filmax. Beta Cinema GmbH will distribute internationally.
Promising career
His first feature film, At Plaga, has placed Neus Ballús in the most promising panorama of Spanish cinema. At the international level, his debut feature premiered at the Berlinale in 2013 and was nominated for the European Film Awards and the LUX Awards of the European Parliament. For this work, Neus Ballús received a nomination for Best New Director at the Goya Awards, and won 4 Gaudí Awards: Best Film, Best Direction, Best Screenplay and Best Editing. It also received the Sant Jordi Award for Best First Film and more than 20 awards at film festivals around the world.
His second feature film, Staff Only, starring Sergi López, had its international premiere at the last edition of the Berlin Festival and could also be seen at the Malaga Festival. It will be released in theaters soon.
For her part, Miriam Porté founded Distinto Films in January 2007. Among her main film titles we find The wild children (best film at the 2012 Malaga Festival and nominated for 3 Goya Awards), Yo (FIPRESCI Prize, Rotterdam 2007) and The Great Vazquez (Official Section of the San Sebastián Festival 2010). Her television productions follow a marked editorial line: explaining stories of little-known women – such as Clara Campoamor, Concepción Arenal, Margarita Xirgu or Elisabeth Eidenbenz – to bring them closer to a majority audience. Recently, his short film Suc de Síndria premiered at the Berlin Film Festival, where it received the European Film Awards nomination award.
