Migue Amoedo reveals secrets and challenges from filming the third season of 'La Casa de Papel'
The series' director of photography, Migue Amoedo, talks about the key role of manufacturers in creating products that allow the user to experience the creators' initial intention at home.
Given the great expectation for the third season of The Money Heist, the director of photography of the series and ambassador of the television range Panasonic, Miguel Amoedo, speaks of “great responsibility” in the face of the challenge of becoming part of the platform of Netflix.
"We have been faced with a somersault and we are aware that we are addressing millions of people. The feeling is one of vertigo, great responsibility and great excitement at the same time." Looking ahead to the new chapters, the commitment is to “conserve the visual identity that has given us so much recognition worldwide: the iconography, the color red, the masks and the musical themes,” he adds.
Given this challenge posed to the team of The Money Heist, Amoedo highlights the importance of having televisions that allow you to create an authentic cinematographic experience at home: "I love being able to see on the Panasonic television in my home how the image transmits what I or my colleagues have wanted to show. Panasonic has achieved, with its technology, home monitors capable of reproducing with total precision what we filmed on the set. Nothing satisfies more than knowing that the end viewer sees exactly what I wanted to tell, what my eyes have seen. In short, bringing cinema to their homes."
“In today's world of series cinematography is very importantto. Today, fortunately for professionals, televisions like those from Panasonic incorporate technology that is faithful to this cinematography,” he adds.
Filming secrets
Regarding the new season of The Money Heist which is about to be released, Amoedo reveals some news: “We have filmed in international locations such as Thailand and Panama, justified by the script twist, and new sets appear." However, the series will maintain its hallmark: "It is a roller coaster of sensations and emotions so that the viewer stays glued in front of the television at home. The main idea is that the new episodes continue to be exciting, that they represent superior entertainment.”
The new season of Pape's Housel is rolling: “We are doing tests with HDR to enter the premium section of Netflix," reveals Amoedo. "OLED televisions with HDR (High Dynamic Range) from Panasonic manage to reproduce images that are more similar to the way we see the real world."
"Some time ago it was very difficult to compete with the big Hollywood productions, because it was difficult to convey to viewers everything that a director wants to convey through images, but we are on the right track thanks to the new Panasonic OLED televisions, capable of reproducing the highest cinematographic quality at home. Currently, the same equipment that we use to film can be in your living room, so that, just as we designed and recorded it on the set, the viewer can see it. In Pape's Housel, for example, the visual reference It is still expressionism and without a good team it is impossible to convey what you really want. I personally am inspired by Soviet cinema and German cinema, I use low angle shots, to give more power to the character and reinforce the emotion it produces in the viewer. The value of language is immense and you can use each code to make entertainment,” says Amoedo.
The Panasonic ambassador is already immersed in new projects with Vancouver, the producer of The Money Heist, which has signed an exclusivity agreement with Netflix for the next four years. “The same team is working on a new series that will be called red sky, an action drama of Spanish creation.”
