IBC reveals the finalists for its 2019 Innovation Awards
Mediapro, finalist in the Content Everywhere category at the IBC Awards, for LaLiga distribution services in the Indian Subcontinent through Facebook Watch.
From 6K to holographic projection and from sports to the FIFA World Cup, the ten finalists of the Innovation Awards IBC this year show a clear trend towards global cooperation and notable progress in creating new commitments.
Representing the best of technical excellence in the pursuit of real benefits for both producers and viewers, the IBC Awards jury has been amazed “by the variety of imaginative projects submitted and had to make some really difficult decisions,” acknowledged its president Michael Lumley.
"While we never look for a theme on our shortlist, the shortlist tends to reflect the industry as a whole. This year you can definitely see that there are a number of projects that are global in their scale and that use new opportunities in connectivity to bring us amazing images, whether capturing life under the sea or the excitement of sports," Lumley added.
The IBC Innovation Awards are unique in that they are not awarded to new products, but to innovative uses of technology, providing new creative, operational or commercial opportunities to users.
The winners will be known on Sunday September 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the RAI Center in Amsterdam to coincide with IBC 2019. This year, IBC presents two new awards: the Young Pioneer Award, which recognizes emerging talent in our industry, and the Social Impact Award, which recognizes those who have a positive impact on the rest of the world. The winners of all these awards and IBC's highest award, the International Honor of Excellence, will be announced during the ceremony.
