He New Technologies Observatory which is celebrated these days in the Digital Content Hub in Malaga has had the presence of Jesus Lozano, director of image and production of Antena 3 News (Atresmedia), to share with professionals their vision on the use of augmented reality in information spaces.

Since the beginning of the 2018/19 season, Atresmedia is making a strong commitment to AR in all informative and meteorological from Antena 3 and in the program Red Hot in LaSexta.

Lozano recalled that the private chain gave its first steps by the hand of Brainstorm Multimedia in the mid-90s. Now, after a few years of graphic drought, augmented reality has returned with more strength than ever integrating LED screens as a real element in the backgrounds.

In the case of Atresmedia, they use marks on the floor for tracking, producing their augmented reality spaces with three cameras: two automated pedestals and a crane.

The graphics and production departments are responsible for the production of these spaces. Two professionals are in charge of 3D modeling, using library assets as much as possible.

Lozano highlighted that in just a few months they have gained agility, achieving a production rate that allows develop augmented reality creations in just a few hours so that it is ready for the midday news.

Despite the frenetic pace of production, it is essential to test the sets and conceive items so they can be reused between the different editions of the news, Lozano commented.
