Audio-Technica has closed an agreement with Dorna Sport as a company providing microphone solutions for MotoGP, the motorcycle championship that holds 19 grand prixes each year on as many circuits around the world.

The content and production team at Dorna, the company that owns the commercial rights to MotoGP, sought to improve the quality of the audio it delivers to the different channels, so that it is at the same level as the video signal it delivers to its users. 89 partner chains around the world; For this reason, at the end of last season, he began testing various Audio-Technica microphones.

The success of these tests led to Dorna's decision to select 265 microphones, headsets and monitoring solutions from Audio-Technica, including 53 track microphones, 76 interview microphones and ENG cameras, Audio-Technica System 10 2.4 GHz wireless microphones for 16 ENG mobile cameras, both new Audio-Technica 3000 Series portable wireless systems and new goosenecks Engineered Sound 925 with Dante endpoints for pre- and post-race press conferences, and 30 headsets BPHS1 for various commentator positions; 72 M60x monitoring headphones and E50 in-ear headphones will allow MotoGP teams to listen to their live audio broadcasts.

Selected Audio-Technica solutions began to be implemented starting with the first European race of the 2019 MotoGP season in Jerez, Spain, in May.

Of particular interest is the instant success of microphones BP28 and BP28L large diaphragm barrel “developed for sports broadcasting”, deployed in MotoGP. Daniel Laviña, Media Technical Director at Dorna Sports says, "When the Audio-Technica shotgun microphones were installed, we immediately noticed a significant increase in the quality of the sound captured. With their exceptionally wide frequency response and high SPL threshold, they seemed ideal for race sound, and we can now have high-quality audio continuity from one camera position to the next."

Audio-Technica will showcase its work with MotoGP at IBC 2019 in Amsterdam, Netherlands, from September 13 to 17.
