Vislink has renewed his contract with Dorna for another three years as official supplier of radio frequency systems for video communications, including on-board systems, for MotoGP.

Vislink has enjoyed a long relationship with Dorna, the exclusive commercial and television rights holder for MotoGP, dating back to 2002.

“The continuation of our commitment to Dorna is a testament to our leadership in live sports broadcasting and delivering reliable and clear video to MotoGP fans around the world,” he underlines. John Payne, president and chief operating officer of Vislink.

Vislink a MotoGPThe technological requirements to offer a radio frequency system robust enough to satisfy the demanding demands of MotoGP are considerable: it must provide stable and stunning images of motorcycles reaching top speeds of over 200 mph, experiencing relentless acceleration and deceleration, and being subjected to strong vibrations and lean angles of 70 degrees.

Designed in collaboration with Dorna, the Vislink solution includes a custom made video transmission system which is combined with a reception infrastructure that supports multiple on-board cameras, as well as pit and paddock cameras. The network is capable of receiving the Vislink downlink system as used on the Dorna helicopter and is specially designed to be robust at high speed.

Vislink also incorporates specialized mounting components to meet the rigors of the track and withstand very high levels of vibration. In particular, the system can achieve all this using the minimum possible transmission power. Vislink's latest award-winning coding technology and advances in receiver and filter components help deliver exceptional image quality from multiple sources, all with excellent spectral efficiency.

“We are proud to have worked closely with Dorna over the years to develop and incorporate numerous technological innovations on board that help immerse spectators in this exhilarating sport,” concludes Payne.
