Canon DP-V3120: a new 4K HDR reference monitor with a brightness of 2,000 cd/m2
The new reference monitor that Canon debuts at IBC offers 31”, a contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1, wide color gamut, and HDR monitoring support functions.
Canon expand on this IBC 2019 its line of professional reference monitors with the launch of the new DP-V3120, a monitor 31” HDR 4K with a luminance of 2,000 cd/m², a relation of cContrast of 2,000,000:1, wide color range, y HDR monitoring support functions.
Its luminosity has been achieved thanks to a innovative backlight system recently developed by Canon. This system includes highly efficient LEDs, with a precise LED control algorithm and advanced image processing, allowing the display to deliver a minimum black of 0.001 cd/m² and a spectacular contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1 for accurate reproduction of shadow and highlight details.
This backlight system incorporates a cooling mechanism New design that allows the monitor to achieve continuously high brightness with silent operation, making it the ideal tool for use in a color room. Additionally, Canon's innovative backlight system incorporates sensors throughout the unit, while intelligent auto-correction technology allows the monitor to maintain image accuracy during operation.
Compatible with the usual gammas 2.2, 2.4, 2.6 and ITU BT.1886, as well as SMPTE ST.2084 and ITU-R BT.2100 (HLG) HDR Electro-Optical Transfer Functions (EOTF), the DP-V3120 also supports BT.2020 and DCI-P3 wide color spaces with faithful and consistent color reproduction, to meet both SDR and HDR production requirements.
DP-V3120 exceeds monitor specifications Dolby Vision, including General Monitor and Gray Scale Reproduction Specifications to meet the requirement for Dolby Vision certified post-production facilities. With this achievement, Canon once again demonstrates its ability to support the efficient production of high-quality HDR visual content and meet the different needs of content production workflows.
HDR monitoring functions
To meet the demand for excellence and efficiency in 4K HDR production flows, the DP-V3120 features a series of advanced HDR monitoring functions to visualize HDR signal parameters such as HDR reference target, los signal levels and the brightness image for precise signal optimization. Equipped with a 12G-SDI interface, it supports 4K images via a single SDI cable.
Thanks to your four 12G-SDI interfaces, this monitor can handle four different 4K signal inputs, providing a four-part display of the screen, but can also switch to a single 4K display by toggling the desired input. In addition, its four 12G-SDI interface terminals allow handling a single 8K signal input.
The DP-V3120 is also compatible with the latest Video Payload ID to identify the characteristics of the signal transfer and with an Auto Adjustment function, which gives the possibility to automatically change the Picture Mode settings of the screen. Additionally, the display can be controlled remotely via a LAN connection giving access to all menu controls, settings and links to other monitors, as well as display settings and signal information.
