Telestream Demonstrates Intelligent Media Processing, Secure Delivery and Intuitive Video Analytics at IBC 2019

The major industry event in Amsterdam is the first showcase since the integration of Tektronix Video created a clear differentiator in the dynamic monitoring and regulatory compliance market

In IBC 2019, Telestream is presenting end-to-end live streaming solutions, strategic advances in information systems encoding and transcoding video and the latest developments in monitoring and analysis of video, both in virtual environments and in virtualized environments.

This is the first showcase for the new expanded company since Tektronix's video testing, monitoring and quality assurance solutions for the broadcast and digital media markets were integrated into Telestream.

The CEO of the company, Scott Puopolo, believes that this IBC 2019 comes at a strategic turning point in the evolution of the broadcasting industry, moving away from linear broadcasts and towards OTT distribution. Another cloud-based innovation from the company is the first showcase of comprehensive, integrated video monitoring for distribution applications deployed in a consumption-based business model.

For media processing and workflow orchestration, Telestream also showcases the latest advancements in centralized and automated workflows with the platform. Vantage Media Processing Platform, where editors spend more time on creative work and administrators have more predictable schedules, storage savings, and network traffic reductions. New this year will be innovations in IMF workflows, file management for Vantage, UHD and HDR, and real-time editing capabilities for resource-efficient remote production.

Prism 25 GE

At IBC 2019, Telestream is demonstrating new capabilities of its Prism media processing platform. Telestream recently acquired Prism when Tektronix video testing, monitoring and quality assurance solutions for the broadcast and digital media markets were integrated into Telestream.

This is the first hybrid IP/SDI media processing platform of the industry that bridges the gap between SDI and IP media networks traditional and now comes with a new mixed media card that allows support of 25GE networks. This approach allows existing installed drives to be easily upgraded in the field with easy-to-install hardware, and new drives with the new mixed media card an even easier software upgrade. Both upgrade paths are available at the same affordable price.

The addition of the 25GE interface within Prism provides support for a variety of media networks from SD to 4K HDR and WCG – enabling the transmission of the next generation of super high resolution video and audio signals.

Wirecast Gear

Telestream has launched at IBC the latest version of Wirecast Gear, a new generation of the company's award-winning live video streaming production hardware. Powerful, purpose-built and easy to use, the fully configured workstation allows anyone to deliver professional live productions in minutes.

With Wirecast Gear, live event producers can focus on production and streaming instead of worrying about hardware system compatibility, configuration and integration. This solution is designed for any user or company that wants to deliver professional live productions from the first moment.

Lightspeed

In Amsterdam, Telestream launches new features on its platforms Lightspeed Live Capture and Live Stream. Of strategic importance for broadcasters and OTT streaming service providers seeking large-scale streaming platforms With inherent resilience combined with high channel density and optimal cost per channel, Telestream will introduce a new and only live platform that will contain 8 3G-SDI I/O ports.

Large-scale OTT service providers need efficient management and resiliency for linear channel groups. Lightspeed Live Stream now provides system-level redundancy with standby channels kept in reserve in case of hardware or software failures.

Greater core system resilience and efficiency is brought to Lightspeed Live Stream through a new ability to provide dual encoder and dual post capabilities in concert with Unified Streaming y Akamai. With this new collaboration facility, high-value content is ensured to reach the origin server and CDN using an active-active technique to replace missing or corrupted content.

The new high-density Lightspeed Live 1RU appliance is a hardware platform compatible with Lightspeed Live Capture and/or Lightspeed Live Stream products. The device provides a video processing platform which allows real-time video and audio ingestion from SDI and IP sources. Supports decoding/encoding of SD/HD/UHD sources and provides parallel processing of multiple video outputs, for a wide variety of target devices and formats under the control of Lightspeed Live Capture or Live Stream software. The system supports up to eight SD/HD/3G input channels or two 4K/UHD channels, with eight independent 16-channel audio processing engines.

In addition, Lightspeed Live Stream integrates for the first time the SRT open source video transport support and the V-Nova Perseus Plus encoding. Additionally, using role-based permissions makes it easier to track and audit changes, as well as tailor permissions to users' responsibilities.

The ability to effectively edit and monetize content within large-scale ecosystems is critical. An exciting new feature of Lightspeed Live Capture is Live Edit Subtrim, which enables quick subtrimming of content from live and previously captured media sources. The system uses a HTML5 Live Edit UI Browser-based, providing completely frame-accurate editing via a low-resolution HLS proxy, and powerful metadata support. Additionally, Lightspeed Live Capture is an ideal enabler for Edit@Home remote production, including simultaneous self-archiving capabilities.

OptiQ Monitor

Successfully delivering a high-quality, rights-protected, fully monetized event or channel requires more than just a world-class encoder or packager. It starts with a good understanding of what the broadcaster or operator is delivering through ubiquitous video monitoring and analysis.

For this reason, Telestream now has OptiQ Monitor Aimed at customers who have already established the necessary infrastructure to support their live streaming channels, but do not have monitoring infrastructure, especially after the CDN.

OptiQ as a live services framework is an amalgamation of all of Telestream's skills around the live streaming, workflow, cloud, integrated monitoring, containers… The first application, OptiQ Channel, was introduced at NAB with its ultra-rapid deployment, fully integrated monitoring and self-healing capabilities. Since Telestream began development, it has become clear that the basis of this channel creation system is an OptiQ framework that allows the creation of multiple different live services to meet different customer needs.
