Own and independent production in Spain reaches a historical maximum

The production companies with the highest number of hours broadcast on general, thematic and first regional channels during 2019 were Globomedia, Mediapro, Molinos de papel, Alba Adriatica-Contubernio, La Fábrica de la Tele, Unicorn and WB Eyeworks.

Throughout 2019, a total of 65,776 hours of own production (27.8% of the total) and 66,241 hours of independent production (28%). As reflected GECA in your report Production on free-to-air television, la producción propia y ajena viene experimentando desde 2015 un aumento paulatino año tras año.

En 2005, la producción propia supuso 52.182 horas (un 27,9% del total) y la independiente, 48.474 horas (25,9%).

GECA destaca en su informe que tanto la producción propia como la independiente encuentran su mayor hueco entre los canales autonómicos. La producción independiente encuentra a su mejor aliado en los canales autonómicos (con un 39,2%) y las temáticas de pago (35,6%), mientras que las generalistas suponen una ventana para el 25,2% de su producción. La producción propia se dirige en un 54,4% a las autonómicas, un 23,5% a los canales generalistas y el 22,1% a temáticas TDT.

The production company with the highest number of hours broadcast on general, thematic and first regional channels during 2019 was Globomedia (3,885 hours broadcast, 5.6%). They follow him Mediapro (3,773 hours, 5.4%), paper mills (3,147 hours, 4.5%), Adriatic Alba-Contubernio (3,007 hours, 4.3%), The TV Factory (2,933 hours, 4.2%), Unicorn (2,748 hours, 3.9%), WB Eyeworks (1,560 hours 2.2% hours), Quartz Productions – Banijay (1,523 hours, 2.2%), Secuoya (1,396 hours, 2.0%).
