‘És a l’aire’ and ‘King Ray’ win the ProDocs award ex-aequo

The 7th edition of the award has changed its format to adapt to the new situation caused by COVID-19 and has the collaboration of PROA, Productos Audiovisuals Federats, DocsBarcelona and 16nou.

For the first time the documentary association, ProDocs, awards two documentaries the 7º ProDocs Award for Best Television Documentary during the online inauguration of the DocsBarcelona 2020, which was celebrated this May 19.

The documentaries awarded ex aequo are It's in the air of A Production Whim, directed by Christophe Sion and Santi Suárez, and the documentary King Ray from the producer two-dimensional, directed by Sergio Romero Castaño. Producer Carles Brugueras representing the production company Polar Star Films, awarded the 6th ProDocs Prize, was the one who awarded the awards to the directors Santi Suárez and Sergio Romero.

The documentary production companies associated with ProDocs have given the tie to It's in the air, which deals with the economic, social and environmental impact that the petrochemical industry has on the population, delving into the relationship that Camp de Tarragona maintains with the largest petrochemical complex in southern Europe.

And to the documentary King Ray, which tells how Spain fraudulently won the basketball gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Paralympic Games, through Raymond Torres, Paralympic basketball champion. Only two of the thirteen players on the squad had disabilities, the team captain remembers what happened almost twenty years later.

The two documentaries thus join the list of documentaries awarded the ProDocs Award made up of Thieves of time produced by Polar Star Films in 2019, The sewers of the Interior produced by Mediapro in 2018, Death in León from JWProductions in 2017, The Hatless produced by Intropía Media in 2016, The great Silence. Horta de Sant Joan from Brutal Media in 2015 and Tomorrow I will die from JWProductions in 2014.
