COIT - RAI Agreement

He Official College of Telecommunications Engineers (COIT) and the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAI) They have signed a collaboration framework agreement to carry out joint activities in different areas and projects. This agreement complements and expands the long history of collaboration between both entities through the Fundación Pro Rebus Academia.

The collaboration will cover aspects of common interest in which both institutions can complement each other. Among others, the organization and joint holding of seminars, conferences, technical sessions, courses and conferences, aimed at training, information and dissemination of engineering and, in particular, at the promotion of technological vocations and digital transformation.

Antonio Colino, president of the RAI and the Pro Rebus Academiae Foundation, highlights that "in times like those we live in, cooperation between institutions related to Engineering is particularly important. Our organizations must share the objective of increasing the visibility of Engineering and putting the knowledge of engineers at the service of society as an irreplaceable instrument for our progress."

For its part, Martha Balenciaga, COIT dean-president, points out that "this agreement complements the long history of collaboration between the COIT and the RAI through the Pro Rebus Academiae Foundation. With this new agreement we will place special emphasis on the promotion of scientific and technological vocations among girls and women, taking advantage of the synergies of the "Women and Engineering" project with the initiatives and objectives of the Women IT working group."

One of the priority objectives of the framework agreement is the promotion of technological vocations, STEM, among young people and especially among women, which will be carried out through the initiatives launched by both organizations: Women and Engineering Project of the RAI, Women's IT Working Group of the COIT.

In addition, this new agreement will foster the collaboration of the RAI in two of our most relevant annual events, as a member of the Jury in the Pioneras IT Award and in the COIT-AEIT Telecommunications Engineers Awards ceremonies, in which the talent and excellence of the best Telecommunications Engineers are rewarded.

Another of the important actions defined in the collaboration agreement is the realization of joint research and publications. Therefore, it has been decided to start working on carrying out an Impact Study of Digital Enabling Technologies on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on sectors of interest (industry, logistics,...).

Furthermore, it has been decided to establish a Joint Action Plan, with the programs, projects and activities that are deemed appropriate. This plan will include the specific content of the annual collaboration and will be designed by the Joint Monitoring Commission stipulated in the agreement.
