The Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences of Spain will celebrate the 35th edition of the Goya Awards on saturday February 27, 2021, about a month later than its usual calendar which used to be in the last week of January or first week of February.

This announcement comes after the Hollywood Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) announced last Monday, June 15, that the award ceremony for the 93rd edition of the Oscar Awards will be postponed until April 25, 2021 due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. Likewise, the Golden Globes will also be delayed and held on February 28, just one day after the Goya. For its part, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts has also postponed the delivery of the BAFTA until the April 11.

The Film Academy has not yet given details of the city that will host the 2021 Goya award ceremony. It should be remembered that this year's edition took place at the Martín Carpena Pavilion in Malaga.

Among the news of the ceremony we already know that will limit the number of people who can express their gratitude on stage for the prize received, in order to reduce the duration of the broadcast.

On the other hand, on May 11, the Academy announced that the Goya 2021 will exceptionally accept films in competition that have been forced to release directly on VOD platforms as a result of the pandemic.
