The Platino Awards will celebrate their IX edition on May 1 in Madrid
The Platinum Awards, the awards that annually recognize the best of Ibero-American audiovisual production, will be held again at the IFEMA Municipal Palace of Madrid on May 1, the eve of the most important festivities of the year for the Community and City of Madrid.
The IX Edition of the awards that each year recognize the best of the production of Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries will be held at the IFEMA Municipal Palace, headquarters of the last edition, to celebrate the union of the Ibero-American regions in one of the great events of international culture.
After the celebration of the VIII Edition of the PLATINO Awards, the event will once again bring together all the agents of the Ibero-American audiovisual sector, who were able to meet again after the global health crisis in the Spanish capital to celebrate the successes of the industry. The awards will once again rely on a strict anti-covid protocol, which was so successful in its previous edition, to preserve the safety of all those attending the great festival of Ibero-American culture.
With the celebration of the IX Platino Awards in Madrid, the community of Madrid and its capital become the venue that has hosted the awards the most times after having previously hosted them in 2017 and 2021. The gala, which will take place on the eve of the Community of Madrid Day and the San Isidro festivities, will be held again at the IFEMA Municipal Palace, the space where the VIII Edition took place, with the aim of repeating its success following the organization's commitment of the awards for the city, thanks also to the determined support of the Community of Madrid and the Madrid City Council.
After the beginning of its journey in Panama in 2014, its celebration in Spain (Marbella) in 2015, in Uruguay (Punta del Este) in 2016, and in Madrid in 2017, Mexico was the host of the Platino during 2018 and 2019. This wide media impact The presence of the best of Ibero-American culture, which maintains its strength at an international level thanks to the continuous success of its talent and its productions, contributed to the awards ceremony presented by Juana Acosta and Luis Gerardo Méndez, televised by 21 networks that emphasize the wide diffusion and reach of the event.

The IX Edition of the Platino Awards will crown the successor of The oblivion that we will be, which won five awards: Best Ibero-American Fiction Film, Best Male Performance, Best Screenplay and Best Art Direction. Television productions will try to emulate the success of Patria, another of the great highlights in the VIII Edition with four awards: Best Series, Best Female Performance in a Miniseries or Teleseries, Best Female Supporting Performance in a Miniseries or Teleseries and Best Series Creator. The new Platinum Honor Award will also be announced, which will be taken over by Diego Luna, the last recipient of this award.
The Platinum Ibero-American Cinema Awards, promoted by EGEDA (Audiovisual Producers Rights Management Entity), with FIPCA (Ibero-American Federation of Cinematographic and Audiovisual Producers) and with the support of the Ibero-American Film Academies and Institutes, bring together the great talents of the industries of the 23 Ibero-American countries, praising the most outstanding productions and creators of each year with twenty-two awards and a Platinum Honor Award.
