The director and director Abraham Lopez Guerrero has signed for Dragon Guardian as animation director of Dragonkeeper, the Spanish-Chinese blockbuster directed by Salvador Simó which will hit theaters in 2021 and tells the story of Ping, a slave girl who becomes a young heroine when she discovers that she has the powers of Dragonkeeper and ends up being the guardian of an ancient dragon.

López Guerrero, creator of Blue & Malone, the only Spanish short that mixes real image and 2D and 3D animation, reaches Dragonkeeper to direct the team that will bring to life the fantastic beings and settings of the feature film, as he has done in his latest project, Los Casos Imposibles de Blue & Malone, where he directed the team that gave life to its two protagonists, a giant blue cat (Big Blue Cat) and a muppet dog (Mortando Malone), as well as other characters such as the mutant fluffs, the villains Borran or Ossianne, the rebellious fairy.

Thanks to his career supervising animation of feature films, shorts and series and thanks to his experience in creating all types of imaginary creatures, Salvador Simó and the film's producers have trusted Abraham López Guerrero to be part of this ambitious production and, together, continue taking Spanish animation to the top.

The first film of Dragonkeeper It takes place in a magical and epic China during the Han dynasty. The story follows the adventures of Ping, a slave girl who becomes a true dragon guardian helping the last imperial dragon on his journey through China to ensure the continuity of the lineage. Dragonkeeper It is also the story of a girl who believes she is not worthy of even a name, but who finds within herself the strength and courage to make this dangerous journey and do what she must.

Produced by Guardian de Dragones, China Film Animation, Movistar + and Atresmedia Cine as the largest Spanish-Chinese co-production to date with a budget of more than 20 million euros, Dragonkeeper is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Carole Wilkinson, based on the first installment of the popular and multi-award-winning literary saga.
