Spanish cinema focuses on 'Berlanga!!', a comedy documentary that has already begun filming
Rafael Maluenda directs and writes Berlanga!!, a feature-length documentary with comedy overtones whose filming has already begun with the support of La Nit Produccions (Regina Enguídanos Coronel).
The film, made with the collaboration of the Generalitat Valenciana, At Punt, Provincial Council of Valencia (Tourist Board), Valencia City Council, Pozuelo de Alarcón City Council, Peñíscola City Council RENFE y Create SGR, will review key moments in the life of José Luis García Berlanga.
Episodes such as his father's death sentence, his time in the Blue Division or the tensions with censorship and Francoist institutions will be filmed in the coming weeks in locations of Madrid, New York, Nebraska, Valencia, Alicante and Castellón.
Popular tone and comedy key
Starting from these approaches, the film will investigate the validity of Berlangui's work and thought. (sic) through the meeting with highly prestigious figures from the world of cinema. Among these figures, we find personalities such as Alexander Payne, Fernando Trueba, Gonzalo Suárez, José Luis Garci, Gracia Querejeta, Enrique Urbizu, Jaime Chávarri, Borja Cobeaga, Miguel Albadalejo, Óscar Aibar, Paco Plaza, Daniel Monzón, Santiago Segura o Jose Mota inter alia. All of them will bring the viewer closer to “Berlanga's professional look while he was filming.”
Berlanga!! It will also have a fiction part that will show the filmmaker's closest shot, always seeking to "escape from the idea of a feature film for cinephiles and experts." To achieve this goal, the interpretations of personalities such as Antonio Resines, Luisa Martín, Guillermo Montesinos o Joaquin Clement.
