EVS presents MediaInfra Strada, a routing solution designed to facilitate the transition to IP
MediaInfra Strada, the latest bet of EVS, combines SDI routing capabilities while giving the possibility of making the leap to IP in the near future.
The solution, at its most basic, is an IP-ready system with SDI inputs. Unites the routing logic and customizable interfaces of Cerebrum with IP and SDI I/O Neuron for uncompressed real-time video and audio. The objective of EVS is to allow broadcasters to meet all the requirements of their workflows, thus being able to adapt to all signal formats. ethernet switches Arista with 100 Gb/s ports complement the package, providing IP network operations high performance.
MediaInfra Strada It is supplied as a single, compact and pre-configured system, thus seeking to enable “quick and easy” deployment within existing infrastructures. The solution is linearly expandable into a combination of inputs and outputs ranging from 256 E/S until 1024 E/S, providing the flexibility needed for future growth. As a turnkey solution, MediaInfra Strada has access to 24/7 support through a single point of contact.
Going from SDI to IP
In his speech, Peter Schut, senior vice president of media infrastructure at EVS, wanted to highlight that MediaInfra Street can respond to all the present and future needs of its clients: "Although the transition to IP is well advanced, SDI baseband is still a reality and it is likely that both signal formats will coexist in the same production infrastructures for some time. With our turnkey MediaInfra Strada solution, television networks can easily and safely replace their current SDI router with an IP-based system that still has SDI inputs and outputs."
Nestor Amaya, vice president of architectural solutions, echoes his colleague's words: "Today, broadcasters who prefer to maintain their traditional SDI infrastructures do so with trepidation, fearing that their decision will not take them where they need to go in a year or two. On the other hand, those who choose to deploy an IP-based infrastructure do so with a clenched jaw, fully aware of the pain that awaits them when it comes to setting up, troubleshooting and paying for their cutting-edge system. MediaInfra Strada It eliminates that pain by allowing production infrastructures to be unseen, unheard and forgotten, whether SDI, IP or hybrid.”
