Evertz - Nexx - NAB 2024

Nexx, a processing and routing solution aimed at mobile units, venues and stadiums capable of working in SDI and IP environments, will occupy a prominent role at the stand Evertz at the fair NAB 2024 (April 13-17, Las Vegas).

Nexx has been designed to offer broadcast facilities access to technology UHD (4K) y HDR adapting to the ever-changing needs and requirements of this industry. Beyond admitting SD/HD/3G/6G/12G, This solution also provides a clear path for future IP expansion, which would allow its users to make a hypothetical transition to SMPTE ST 2110 and adopt more cloud services as part of their workflow.

Based on a compact modular rack with a main/backplane interface, the Nexx processing and routing platform is available in 5RU (384×384) y 3RU (96×96). All Nexx products include redundant control and hot-swappable components, fans, and I/O modules. Nexx also offers full native audio between embedded audio, MADI and TDM (for analog, AES and Dante), and a built-in, penalty-free, software-enabled multiviewer with more than 40 pre-configured layouts.

To Joshua Vanarhem, product manager Evertz, "Flexibility is key to the success of NEXX, and why it is proving popular with so many broadcast installations and mobile units around the world. With its additional processing capabilities, uncompromised mono audio routing, more than one multiviewer option and ability to handle SDI and IP, this multi-faceted router is incredibly versatile and can be tailored to meet the needs of each broadcaster."

Nexx-670 y Nexx-Scorpion de Evertz

the universe Nexx is complemented by solutions such as the module accelerated by FPGA Nexx-670, which expands processing options and allows users to choose the functionality they want by applying different software-based applications. Based on Evertz's popular ev670 platform, Nexx-670 targets installations that wish to transition to IP with gateways or require additional advanced mass processing (up-conversion, down-conversion and cross-conversion with video processing and audio DSP), as well as having a full-featured multiviewer and comprehensive monitoring. This powerful hybrid solution is transparent: users do not need to know if the source is IP and the destination is SDI, or vice versa, as Nexx is able to carry out each task regardless of the signal type.

On the other hand, the module Nexx-Scorpion, arriving in 2024, takes advantage of Evertz's Scorpion miniature I/O (MIO) modules. Additional support for these Scorpion MIO modules extends Nexx I/O to interfaces beyond SDI and Ethernet to include Dante, HDMI and more natively. Likewise, the MIO-Blade provides more granular flexibility by having different functionalities that process signals with compression, upstream, downstream, cross-conversion, etc.

Nexx is controlled by Big-OS, which provides all the common user interfaces, including traditional hardware router control panels, web-based virtual control panels, and VUE smart panels. Nexx also provides real-time analytics to Magnum-OS, where users can view real-time performance and status on user-defined dashboards.
