Netflix buys the visual effects company Scanline VFX ('Game of Thrones', 'Stranger Things'...)

Scanline VFX, post-production and visual effects company that has worked on projects such as Game of Thrones o to Justice League by Zack Snyder, has been acquired by Netflix.

Founded in 1989 and currently directed by Stephan Trojansky (inventor of Flowline), Scanline VFX It has offices in Vancouver, Montreal, Los Angeles, London, Munich, Stuttgart and Seoul. The company is especially known for its photorealistic effects and his experience in virtual production. Some of the latest productions that Scanline VFX has worked on are Cowboy Bebop, Blood Red Sky, Stranger Things, Game of Thrones o Godzilla vs. Kong. Following the acquisition, Netflix will invest in pipeline, the infrastructure and the labour from Scanline. In this way, the platform seeks to continue supporting the “pioneering work” that Eyeline Studios of Scanline is doing in virtual production “to push the boundaries of what is visibly possible.” Scanline VFX will not work exclusively for Netflix, as the company will continue to operate as an independent business and provide services to its extensive client base. Likewise, Netflix has stressed that it will continue to work with other VFX providers for its projects.

Netflix expects the acquisition, once it passes all regulatory approvals, to be completed in the first quarter of 2022.
