CanalSur Más, Canal Sur's renewed OTT platform, arrives
RTVA premieres CanalSur More, OTT content platform Canal Sur Radio and Television with which it aims to renew its current A la Carte digital service.
The new platform, which was born in a first beta version, is now available on responsive web and mobile through Canalsurmas.es. In a second phase and over the next few weeks, the platform will complete its multi-screen deployment, arriving with its own app to iOS and Android devices, as well as the stores of the main models of Smart TV.
CanalSur Más, whose final launch is scheduled for the end of the first quarter of 2022, is born with a first selection of content from its current A la Carte service that will gradually grow and progressively throughout the next year. In this first phase, the platform already has a portfolio of programs and audiovisual productions from the historical archive of Canal Sur Televisión, like Serve Ball, I'm the crazy one, It's called Copla o The answer is in History, a first batch of Andalusian audiovisual documentaries and films, as well as a series of special categories of content related to the culture and traditions of Andalusia. In addition, CanalSur Más considerably improves the quality of the current on-demand television service, becoming fully HD (1920×1080 – 5Mbps), allowing the quality of the content to be adapted to the viewer's network automatically and allowing it to be selected manually.
In parallel, the platform does not leave aside the linear digital broadcast of Andalusian radio and TV, and collects live programming from both Canal Sur Andalusia, like all radio stations, both regionally and provincially. Finally, CanalSur Más aims to open a window to the streaming of special events from the world of sport, culture and social affairs that take place in Andalusia and that can complement and enrich the content offering of the Andalusian autonomous entity beyond its usual broadcasts.
Accessibility and new media
CanalSur Más also debuts the category “CanalSur More Accessible”, a selection of programs (current affairs, entertainment, public service and information) corresponding to the broadcast of Channel 2 Andalusia, which can be viewed on demand, showing the interpreter of sign language and on-screen subtitles. This selection of programs will be progressively completed until reaching all existing programs and consolidating CanalSur Más' commitment to the accessibility of its content.
The new OTT of Canal Sur Radio and Television is also active official profiles on social networks, specifically on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Tik Tok, from which it will report the latest developments and news about its development and incorporation of new content. In addition, activate an email, canalsurmas@rtva.es, to complete the dialogue with the platform users in this first testing phase.
In the opinion of the general director of the RTVA, Juande Mellado, Canal Sur's new OTT represents the materialization of "a strategic and transversal project that will become the best digital showcase of Canal Sur Radio and Television content." According to Mellado, “this is an initiative that we have been working on for more than two years, which is now a reality, and which has involved complex and arduous work in which a large number of professionals have participated, whom I thank and congratulate for their commitment, effort and enthusiasm.”
For Mellado, the launch of the OTT “represents a turning point in the digital transformation process that the company has to face in the coming years, both in terms of the new consumption of our audience and in terms of the internal processes derived from the advancement of technology in our industry.”
