Albert Espel, Goya a la Mejor Dirección de Producción por 'Mediterráneo'

An international shoot and the always challenging challenges offered by filming in aquatic environments allowed Albert Espelt and Kostas Sfakianakis to win the Goya for Best Production Direction for Mediterranean.

The production was a real odyssey: I still digital content con real locations, which meant that Espelt and his team faced significant complications during filming. mirror He collected the award, thanking the academics for their recognition and sharing it with the rest of his fellow nominees, who “also deserve it.” Visibly moved, Espelt thanked the production companies Lastor Media, Arcadia y Fasten Films, and to the director himself Marcel through, for having explained “a story about a problem so real that we hope that this film helps to put measures in place and stop the Mediterranean from being a big mass grave.”

Beyond her production colleagues, Espel wanted to dedicate this award to the rescuers, protagonists of the production: "I remember the first meeting where they said a phrase that sticks with me: when people see a lifeguard on the beach, what they think is: a kid doing some shit in the summer. And that's not the case, ours is a profession that is only recognized by the people whose lives we save and their families. I, from here, want to recognize this profession and I want to dedicate this Goya to all those people who save lives on our beaches and, even more so, off them."
