Shotoku will unveil its new TG-47 head at NAB 2022
The small but powerful TG-47 pan and tilt unit from Shotoku will make its global debut at booth #C5008 NAB 2022.
He TG-47 is designed for small cameras that need the strength and power of a head PT traditionally larger in a compact size. Aimed at medium-sized payloads up to 22 kg/48 lbs, the TG-47 combines the size of the TG-27 of Shotoku with the power of his TG-18.
The latest bet from the Japanese firm combines the strengths, built-in reliability and robust feature set of the other Shotoku heads, but with a compact case. At its core are the same advanced digital servo systems as the established TG-27, providing exceptional performance in the air at a wide range of speeds. Like all Shotoku products, the TG-47 can be optionally supplied with full VR/AR support.
The head has been designed for small national or regional studios where production values demand the quality and performance of broadcast cameras and lenses, and where a typical 15-17″ teleprompter. These environments do not typically require manual control of the pan bar or large camera setups with viewfinders, manual controls, and talent monitors. The head, by the way, can be mounted on a pedestal or manual tripod or used in combination with Shotoku's TI-11 riser.
The TG-47 is also complemented by the roof rail system SmartRail of Shotoku, which provides a solution for ceiling-mounted cameras with rail movement and a long robotic descent column, but still supports a useful-sized teleprompter for presenter use. Inside the TG-47 is the well-known and advanced motion control electronics designed and manufactured by Shotoku specifically for their heads, along with completely new mechanical load-bearing structural elements that provide the strength and durability expected of a Shotoku head.
A versatile and flexible proposal
The new design of TG-47 Enables easy maintenance with lightweight, removable molded covers that provide simpler construction and complete freedom of access to internal components. The centralized connector panel combines all necessary power and network connectivity, as well as lens control and general-purpose input and output in one convenient location.
James Eddershaw, general director of Shotoku USA, highlights the main highlights of the new TG-47: "It brings benefits to a wide range of applications found in today's ever-changing studio designs. It is perfect for those who demand superior performance from a small unit, but do not want to compromise on quality. We are very pleased to present it at NAB, a trade show that attracts visitors from small production studios to the largest chains."
