Cooke will present his latest innovations in lenses at IBC
The optics manufacturer will debut in Amsterdam new focal lengths for the Panchro/i Classic range, in addition to S7/i full frame, Anamorphic/i zoom and Anamorphic/i SF, among others.
Cooke Optics will present its latest ranges of lenses and focal lengths at stand 12.D10 of IBC 2018. The 65mm and 21mm Macro lenses in the range Panchro/i Classic are now in production and available to be demonstrated for the first time on the stand, along with the S7/i lenses, miniS4/i, Anamorphic/i y Anamorphic/i SF. Cooke will also announce details of a new range of lenses in the coming weeks.
Les Zellan, President of Cooke Optics, commented: "It's been twenty years since we built our S4/i prime lenses, which remain in high demand and backordered to this day. I'm very proud of what we've achieved since then, launching seven more sets of lenses, all designed and built from the ground up for industrial use, offering cinematographers an incredible range of options whilst maintaining our famous 'Cooke Look' across the range. It's nice though. look back for a minute, the Cooke team and I are fully focused on the future, with a new range to launch at IBC and more innovations to come.”
The S7/i Full Frame lens range includes large format lenses specially designed to cover the new full frame cinema camera sensors up to the full sensor area (46.31mm image circle) of cameras such as the RED Weapon 8K, ARRI Alexa LF and Sony Venice.
Panchro/i Classic
Premium Panchro/i Classic lenses offer the vintage look of the beloved Speed Panchros, but with the benefits of a modern housing, frames and lenses.
The T4.5-22 Anamorphic/i 45-450mm zoom lens has a 10x anamorphic front zoom, a MOD of 5'10" from the image plane and a close focus of 3'11" from the front of the lens.
Anamorphic/i SF (“Special Flair”) lenses feature a coating that provides even more flare, gapping, and other aberrations synonymous with the anamorphic look. The miniS4/i range offers smaller, lighter lenses that offer the same resolution, optical quality and reliability as the S4/i, but at a lower price. The 5/i family offers T1.4 speed and a focus ring that illuminates when needed, as well as excellent optical and mechanical performance, control of flare, distortion, blurred glare and spherical aberrations at full aperture.
Cooke will also present demonstrations of /i3 (/i Cubed), the latest version of its /i Technology metadata system that provides detailed lens data to visual effects and post-production teams. The /i3 firmware now provides distortion mapping and not just a theoretical measurement of all lenses of a particular focal length, but of the specific lens in use. The new S4/i, 5/i and S7/i lens models from September 2018 include /i3 sensors.
