SmallHD will show its 4K Cine 18 monitor at NAB 2022

Cine 18, an 18-inch 4K production monitor visible in daylight thanks to its 1100 nits brightness, is the big bet of SmallHD (Vitec Group) for NAB 2022.

SmallHD Cine 18 belongs to the series SmallHD Cine, the line 4K production monitors which includes the models SmallHD Cine 13 and Cine 24. This intermediate model presents the same advanced features of the two Cine models and would replace the monitor SmallHD 1703 P3X HD.

SmallHD's latest solution uses technology Edgelit LCD to offer maximum brightness of 1100 nits, which makes it a monitor visible in daylight. The panel has a resolution of 3840×2160, a color depth of 10 bits (8+2 FRC), a contrast ratio of 1000:1 and a viewing angle of 178°. The range completely covers the color space REC.709 and the 98 % of DCI-P3, making color accurate for most applications.

Like Cine 13 and 24, this 18” version has four inputs 12G-SDI and one HDMI 2.0 on the back of the unit. The same type and number of connectors can be found as output ports. On the other hand, the SmallHD Cine 18 run the software PageOS, which offers a wide range of monitoring tools (waveform, scopes, frame guide, focus and exposure, and more), compatibility with Lut 3D, workflow Color Pipe HDR and one monitor calibration tool.

Connectivity and portability

SmallHD Cine 18 offers great power flexibility through its input 4-pin XLR DC or a hot-swappable dual battery plate that can be attached to the back of the monitor. The board comes in two mounting options, Gold y V-Mount, and supports cells 14 y 26 V.

Its front buttons give access to all menus and settings. The front of the monitor also features a 3.5mm jack output, an SD card slot, and an additional USB Type-A port.

Regarding its construction, the monitor SmallHD Cine 18 It features a one-piece aluminum chassis shell that makes it light and robust at the same time. The unit measures 46.7 × 32.3 × 6.4 cm and weighs 5.06 kg. The integrated top handle makes the monitor easy to transport, while the two removable legs at the bottom provide stable fixation when placing the SmallHD Cine 18 on a table or desk. Additionally, it can be attached to a mounting system VESA universal 100 mm through its integrated plate.
