EVS Neuron continues to optimize its real-time processing capabilities with Compress and Protect
EVS has added the new Compress and Protect functionalities to Neuron Network Attached Processor (NAP), which translates into an increase in the efficiency of IP-based productions thanks to a substantial improvement in real-time asset processing.
Built on IP and with connectivity SDI optional, Neuron It is one of the fundamental pillars of the flexible multimedia infrastructure offer of EVS. The new solution Neuron Compress Provides new encoding and decoding capabilities JPEG XS. This codec offers lossless visual quality, with very low latency and a typical compression ratio of 10:1, helping broadcasters reduce bandwidth usage on IP-based infrastructures. Like all other Neuron products, Compress is a high-density solution that offers up to 32 UHD or 64 FHD encoders/decoders in a rack unit.
On the other hand, Neuron Protect has been designed to protect broadcast networks from single points of failure, using intelligent, redundant and isolated (automatic) switching. The line Protect uses all modern encapsulation standards, such as ST2022 y ST2110, and is capable of managing up to 16 channels of Full HD or 4 channels of UHD and transport them over two redundant 100 Gb/s Ethernet connections.
Optionally, Neuron Protect can be improved with a module E/S SDI, which will add 40 physical SDI HD-BNC connectors, allowing easy integration of existing SDI operations into an IP environment, acting as a bridge or gateway. Protect can be used as a multi-channel A/V over IP transceiver, A/V probe, up/down converter, automatic switching (ACO) and firewall.
Along with these new product lines, EVS has improved audio processing, as Neuron becomes compatible with MADI; the SDR-HDR conversion, since Neuron now integrates this LUT-based function, and color correction, since EVS has added YCrCb and Hue settings in all Neuron color correctors.
