Sony and Nevion convene an in-person event on IP and cloud in Madrid

Next Wednesday, May 11, Sony and its subsidiary Nevion will organize a face-to-face meeting at the Avenida de América Hotel in Madrid in which the challenges of the broadcast industry and its proposals for IP and cloud workflows will be addressed.

In it IP & Cloud Day It will be clear how IP and cloud technologies are changing paradigms in audiovisual production. The IP is configured as the factor that will allow unify and optimize the processes of capturing, storing and processing multimedia content, and controlling all these elements to produce live events.

Work in the cloud

The cloud is increasingly important in providing secure accessibility, improving multimedia workflows, and facilitating enhanced collaboration. The Ci Media Cloud Services Sony, an ecosystem of cloud-based applications developed for multimedia organizations to collect, organize, collaborate, distribute and archive multimedia assets, continues to improve its offering to create a more valuable solution for various applications.

In terms of post-production, the Ci Workflow application provides functionality for a secure VFX extraction workflow that allows VFX frames to be sent directly to VFX studios by simply sending a Release Decision List (EDL) to Ci.

First, productions must upload the original camera files (OCF) to Ci, where preview proxies will be created. To start the VFX extraction workflow, an EDL is sent to Ci. Ci locates the referenced OCF and converts the indicated clips to the desired output format. The generated frames are dynamically supplied to the VFX provider, who is notified when delivery is complete. Benefits of the app include increased speed and lower operating expenses, as well as helping to solve common accessibility and ownership challenges.

Ci's collaboration enhancements, which can benefit publishing and sports users, among others, include in-app commenting and live streaming, simplifying how creative teams review and collaborate on content and enabling faster social media publishing.
