Eurovision Latin America

After the rumors of recent months, finally the European Broadcasting Union (UER/EBU) has confirmed that the Eurovision Song Contest will have a version in Latin America that will be produced by Christer Björkman, Anders Lenhoff, Ola Melzig, Peter Settman and Greg Lipstone of Voxovation, the producers of American Song Contest y Eurovision Song Contest Canada.

The Song Festival Eurovision 2022 brought together more than 75 million unique viewers and YouTube in 232 territories around the world, with Latin American countries among the highest-performing markets for non-participating nations. Among these countries, Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Mexico recorded the highest content views.

Producers will now begin the search for a host city for the Eurovision Song Contest Latin America among the top performing Latin American markets in the coming months.

NBC's American Song Contest, which concluded its eight-week run on May 9, saw an increase in viewers in the Grand Finale, during which K-pop star AleXa was crowned the winner of the first season. Eurovision Song Contest Canada, co-produced with his partner Insight Productions (a Boat Rocker company), will debut in 2023.

The executive supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest, Martin Osterdahl, stated that “following the launch of the US Song Contest, and with plans underway for the Eurovision Song Contest Canada next year, the European Broadcasting Union is delighted to now be working with Voxovation to bring the excitement and magic of the Eurovision Song Contest to Latin America. “Eurovision’s unique format finds new fans around the world every year and we can’t wait to expand the brand in this diverse part of the world.”

Peter Settman y Greg Lipstone, on behalf of the Voxovation production team, state that “fans across Latin America have consistently rallied for the Eurovision Song Contest brand, and the Latin American Eurovision Song Contest is the embodiment of that fervent passion, as well as a continuation of the broad vision that we, the production team, have for Eurovision as a global brand.”

The Eurovision Song Contest, organized by the EBU, is the largest live music event in the world, bringing together more than 180 million people who tuned in through linear and digital channels in 2022.

During the Grand Finale, viewership shares in 40 markets routinely double the prime-time viewership on participating networks, and among 15-34-year-old audiences, viewership quadrupled.
