Francisco Moreno (RTVC), elected new president of FORTA
The Federation of Autonomous Radio and Television Organizations or Entities (FORCE) begins a new stage with Francisco Moreno García, sole administrator of Canarian Radio Television (RTVC), as president.
This is the second time Moreno He holds the presidency of the Federation. He already did so in November 2001, when he was RTVC general director, a position he held between May 2001 and June 2005. The new president of FORTA rejoined the RTVC team in November 2019 as sole administrator of the public entity and its commercial companies, Canarian Television and Canary Islands Radio.
The general meeting of FORTA, which held its last session in Galicia, has highlighted and congratulated the work carried out in the last six months by From Andoni, general director of EITB, as president of the entity. Likewise, he has stressed the need for his successor to continue working in make visible the role of regional public radio and television organizations as guarantors of the rule of law and as a truthful and quality public service, as well as the work that all members of the Federation are doing to strengthen the audience and get closer to a younger audience through the digitalization and innovation of the channels. In the new horizon that FORTA faces in the coming months of Francisco Moreno's presidency are straight as important as the coexistence with streaming platforms, the Ley General Audiovisual, the FORTA technological transformation or the fight against misinformation and fake news.
Francisco Moreno's career
Francisco Moreno García He has a degree in Information Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid and began his professional career at Spanish Television, where he obtained his position by competitive examination in 1987 and where he remained until 1999. In 1990 he was appointed head of the daily news services of TVE in the Canary Islands, and then director of news and programs, a position he held until 1999, when he left state public television to take over the direction of Antena 3 in Las Palmas. He has made his executive tasks compatible with direction of reports and audiovisual content. In his journalistic side, he has been a special envoy to Mauritania, Senegal, Ivory Coast. He covered the Liberian war for TVE in the 90s.
After his time in Antena3 TV, in 2001 he was commissioned by the Government of the Canary Islands to refloat the Public Radio and Television of the Canary Islands and one of its first actions was to incorporate RTVC to FORTA, of which he was appointed president in November of that year. During the years 2002 and 2003, Canarian Television became the fastest growing national television. In 2005 he finished his first stage at RTVC and joined the Iberian Press Editorial Group as general director of the Audiovisual area. Subsequently, he assumed the direction of institutional and corporate communication at the Lopesan hotel company, a position that he combined with that of professor of Advertising and Corporate Communication at the Next IBS Business School.
He participated in the merit contest for the election of the Board of Directors and President of RTVE. Since November 2019, by broad political consensus, he has held the position of RTVC Provisional Single Administrator and its commercial companies.
