EITB and Tokikom launch the Saretzen project focused on data journalism
Following the BBC's 'Local News Partnership' model, EITB and the local media network in Basque Tokyo They have launched the Saretzen project, to work on data journalism together.
The first installment of this collaboration will be released today, November 29, and will revolve around the demography in South Basque Country. Thus, both the EITB and Tokikom media will address that specific topic, each of them in a way according to their characteristics and adapting to their field.
Specifically, they will work on demographic data between 2001 and 2021, with Eustat and Nastat as sources. In addition to analyzing the evolution of the population in the last 20 years, they will carry out an x-ray of society, focusing on the number of inhabitants, the characteristics of an aging population and the birth rate. They will pay special attention to the phenomena region by region, and will also analyze different municipalities, analyzing the data from the realities of the regions, cities and towns themselves.
And this is precisely one of the main characteristics of the Saretzen project: after collect and jointly gather all data, he development of the same is carried out according to the characteristics of each means of communication and adapting to its scope.
Precisely, the objective of the signed agreement is to develop a Basque communication framework to satisfy the information needs of the population and, in this sense, work on a collaboration model between local and national media.
El acuerdo pretende fomentar la creación de contenidos competitivos de calidad creados en euskera; y, unido a ello, analizar y aprovechar las posibilidades que ofrece la transformación tecnológica a la hora de ser competitivos en ámbitos como la formación, la televisión por Internet, el desarrollo del periodismo de datos y una adecuada y unificada explotación de los mismos, entre otros. Este nuevo convenio entre EITB y Tokikom recoge también el reto de la reflexión sobre el modelo audiovisual del futuro.
Tokikom es una red de 76 medios locales en euskera, creada en 2012, con tres objetivos principales: actuar como interlocutor conjunto de los medios de comunicación locales ante otros agentes públicos y privados; gestionar los ámbitos de actividad comunes a todos los medios asociados (publicidad, presencia digital, gestión, compras…); y diseñar estrategias de convergencia que faciliten el desarrollo y la expansión del sector. Hoy día, cuenta con 28 entidades asociadas, que gestionan un total de 76 medios locales en todos los soportes: papel, radio, televisión, y digital.
