Canon EOS VR

In response to feedback received from users, Canon has significantly improved the performance and functionality of its EOS VR system with version 1.2.

Both EOS VR Utility as EOS VR Plug-in for Adobe Premiere have been updated to Improve efficiency in post-production workflows and, more importantly, now allow EOS VR Utility the RAW file conversion compatible up to 60P, which will help more creators record how they want.

With the same simple and intuitive user interface as the initial software, EOS VR Utility adds a new RAW video support tab. This update will allow creators to work with and make adjustments to supported RAW files, even at the highest frame rate of 8K/60p, such as those generated by the EOS R5 C camera.

The combination of 60fps, 8K and high dynamic range of RAW files ensures exceptional image quality and smooth motion image recordings.

To make it easier for VR content creators to work with such large VR files, both EOS VR Utility and the EOS VR plug-in can be used with compatible GPU cards to improve processing and conversion times, speeding up post-production workflows.

In addition to these improvements, it now natively supports Apple Silicon processors, allowing users to take full advantage of the latest Apple processors, further speeding up workflows with Mac devices.

The EOS VR plug-in also has the advantage of a speed priority, through which content creators can apply VR conversion after editing work and thus shorten post-production time.

Greater flexibility

Version 1.2 of the EOS VR Utility software also provides VR content creators with greater flexibility and a range of tools to support their workflows.

The New High Quality File Format Option HEVC 4:4:4, de 10 bits, available in the EOS VR Utility software for Windows offers more codec options when exporting content, but in addition, a lens mask function highly requested by users (Windows and Mac) eliminates the view of the adjacent lens, while softening the edges of the frame, eliminating another step in the final editing.
