Canal+ buys OCS and Orange Studio, Orange's main film and television assets

Canal plus Orange OCS Orange Studio

Orange and the Group Canal+ have signed a memorandum of understanding regarding the acquisition of OCS y Orange Studio, companies that structure Orange's film and pay television business.

Once the french competition authority confirm the acquisition, the group Canal+ will control the entire capital that Orange owns in the OCS pay TV package and in Orange Studio, company co-production of films and series.

The purchase represents an important turnaround in the French market. The contents of OCS are currently distributed by all ISP, as well as within Canal+'s film series offerings, while Orange Studio has more than 200 co-productions y un catálogo de cerca de 1.800 obras audiovisuales y cinematográficas, entre las que se encuentran películas oscarizadas y emblemáticas como The Artist y The Father.

Desde su creación en 2007 y 2008 respectivamente, la competencia en el sector audiovisual, en particular para OCS, no ha dejado de intensificarse con la aparición de potentes plataformas internacionales. En este contexto, Orange se ha esforzado por garantizar la continuidad del desarrollo de estas dos filiales, preservando al mismo tiempo los empleos y la prefinanciación de los contenidos audiovisuales. Para garantizar estos objetivos, Orange entabló conversaciones con el grupo Canal+, your historical partner and recognized European player in the creation and distribution of content. Canal+ has already been a 33.34% shareholder in OCS since 2012 and is its main distributor.
