Mediaset Italia adopts Sony's XVS-7000 mixers in its transition to IP
As part of the evolution from SDI to IP, Mediaset has equipped its production centers with XVS-7000 video switchers and Trimaster PVM-X2400 24-inch 4K HDR monitors. Sony that allow you to control high-end image quality.
As part of this change, the switchers in three of the broadcaster's studios in Milan and Rome are being replaced with IP-enabled XVS-7000 video switchers. They are joined by another XVS-7000 installed in Mediaset's IP19 mobile unit that serves a wide variety of entertainment productions.
Multi-format mixers meet the ST.2110 and NMOS standards IP multimedia production systems and are equipped with input and output 100G that allow you to work at the same time in 4K and HD in a single transmission with integrated format conversion. The integrator Professional Show Padua-based company, which has assisted Mediaset with its IP improvement plan (including systems installation and training), has supplied and ordered a total of five XVS-7000 units.
Marco Di Concetto, Head of Broadcast Production Systems at Mediaset, comments: "We have long known the quality and reliability of Sony switchers, so the XVS-7000 was the logical choice for Mediaset. It is the first production switcher with 100G input and output functionality, and also supports ST.2110 and NMOS standards. It fits perfectly into our studio's new IP-based infrastructure, which has been established according to open standards."
Enrico De Capitani, Senior Account Manager for Media Solutions at Sony IPSE, notes that "in the pre-competitive phase of Mediaset's technology selection, Sony and Professional Show cooperated closely in the rigorous evaluation and interoperability of the equipment regarding the SMPTE and AMWA standards. The positive results demonstrated Sony's effectiveness in implementing the standards specifications and how the close collaboration between Professional Show and Sony had enabled Mediaset to achieve the best integration of the IP solution."
In addition, Sony has delivered 25 high-end 4K HDR viewing monitors 24-inch Trimaster PVM-X2400 which have been installed in studio control rooms and mobile units at the broadcaster's facilities in Milan and Rome. The PVM-X2400 replaces older Mediaset monitors and offers exceptional image quality with a gray scale reproduction very faithful.
While the broadcaster is currently producing content in 1080P HDR, the new monitors also offer future-proof technology for working in 4K. To complement the PVM-X2400, Mediaset also uses the monitors LCD Full HD LMD-A170 y LMD-A220 from Sony to maintain optimal color consistency throughout the production workflow, from recording to distribution.
“When starting this project, Mediaset set itself the goal of selecting the most reliable technology, along with the involvement of partners to guarantee efficient operations and clear evolution,” he acknowledges. Enrico Beoni, commercial director of Professional Show in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. “In Sony, we have found the ideal partner with whom to best meet Mediaset's requirements and we hope that the developments will have a first-class vision.”
