'This is not Sweden', RTVE Play's first fiction

The European co-production 'This is not Sweden' is promoted by Funicular Films, Nanouk Films y Anagram Sweden for the European public television channels RTVE, TV3, SVT (Sweden), NDR (Germany) and YLE (Finland) with the support of the ICEC (development and series) and the MEDIA program of the European Union.

The series created by Aina Clotet and Sergi Cameron, which is shooting these days in Barcelona, is starring Aina Clotet, Marcel Borràs, Nora Navas, Enric Auquer, Tomás del Estal, Liv Mjönes, Ia Langhammer, Mabel Rivera, and Nausicaa Bonnín, and is the presentation of the young Violeta Sanvicens.

The script of this dramatic comedy filmed in Catalan, Spanish, English and Swedish, and signed by Clotet herself along with Valentina Viso, Dani González, Marc Coll and Sergi Camero, focuses on the contradiction that a couple of young parents encounter when it comes to protecting their children from the dangers of life.

To educate their daughters from a more authentic place and far from their respective painful childhoods, Mariana and Samuel go to live in a mountain neighborhood in Barcelona, where they find a community of people with the same aspirations. But, when a tragedy shakes the neighborhood, dismantling their ideal, Mariana and Samuel's certainties begin to shake and fear settles in the couple, getting dangerously close to everything they were trying to escape.

The direction of the series, which will consist of 8 episodes, runs to cargo de Aina Clotet, Mar Coll, Celia Giraldo and Sara Fantova.

According to its creator, Aina Clotet, “This is not Sweden It is born from a personal need: once I entered the stage of motherhood, I realized that my life had taken a turn and no one had warned me. One day, together with a group of families from the neighborhood where Sergi Cameron, our co-producer, was, we decided to create a 'parenting group', led by a specialized psychologist, where we could share our entire roller coaster of unknown emotions. From there, we began to conceptualize the series together with Valentina Viso, Mar Coll and Dani González, where, putting upbringing at the center, we wanted to explore how fear can turn you into the worst image of yourself."

“This is not Sweden "It is a product that we trust from the first moment by synthesizing the values of open, cosmopolitan and contemporary public service that RTVE Play must have," he says. Alberto Fernandez, director of the platform, who highlighted the “creative and production tenacity” displayed by the creators of the project, until reaching the moment of filming, which will take place over 13 weeks in different locations in Barcelona, El Prat and El Penedès.

The series has been awarded the Conecta Fiction Best Pitch Award at the Göteborg Festival and has participated in such prestigious development laboratories as Torino -TFL Next- TV Series, producers' workshop at the Rotterdam Festival and the Göteborg Festival.
