Edelweiss - RTVE Play - The Mediapro Studio

Edelweiss, documentary series produced by RTVE in collaboration with 100 Reply (The Mediapro Studio), reaches RTVE Play on September 22.

Edelweiss, original documentary series, is the first self-created content that will be released on RTVE's newly launched digital platform this season. Its four episodes address the history of the organization Edelweiss, “the most destructive sect in Spain”, which between 1971 and 1984 recruited a multitude of boys between 10 and 13 years old under the excuse of being a mountain group.

Under the leadership of Eduardo González Arenas “Eddie”, who presented himself to the boys as a prince from another planet who had come to Earth to save them from a global cataclysm, the sect exercised absolute control over the minors, submitting their will so that they were at the service of Eddie's dark plans.

Experts and archive images

The four episodes of Edelweiss They include the participation of experts in the world of sects such as Eduardo Bravo or Miguel Perlado; the police inspector in charge of the case, José A. Ávila; the investigative journalist from Interviú magazine who was closest to Eddie, Perfecto Conde, and the testimonies of some of those children who were members of Edelweiss, including Eddie's lieutenant in the organization, Carlos de los Ríos, among others.

In addition to these testimonies, Edelweiss It has archival images and fictional recreations that will help understand the phenomenon of this sect, considered the most destructive in Spain, which ended in the largest trial for corruption of minors in our history in 1991, taking over the covers and headlines of the press of the time.
