Eutelsat 117 - StarGroup StarTV

StarGroup has renewed its agreement with Eutelsat to secure your Star TV DTH service through the Eutelsat 117 Oeste B satellite.

The service DTH of StarTV, launched in 2016 to replace the regional platform TV Zac, began its broadcasts with a microwave distribution. Shortly after, thanks to a partnership with Eutelsat, StarTV made the leap to satellite technology to offer a national, robust and high-quality service with reach in the “most remote areas of the country.” The platform has not stopped growing, adding new channels to its offer and multiplying its reach by eight until reaching 250,000 paid in 2020. Today, the StarTV platform offers more than 100 television channels, in SD and HD quality, and with a constantly expanding installer base, has become one of the most successful television providers in Mexico.

Under this multi-year agreement recently signed between Eutelsat y StarGroup, additional Ku-band transponders will be used in EUTELSAT 117 West B to continue developing services DTH from StarTV. By offering four regional beams in Ku band, it is capable of providing coverage in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, the Andean region and the Southern Cone.

Jose Aguirre, president and CEO of StarTV, celebrates its alliance with the satellite services provider: "Eutelsat has allowed StarTV to offer low-cost pay television services throughout Mexico. In addition to being a satellite provider, Eutelsat has been a partner in the design of services that enrich our entertainment offer and improve the experience of our customers."

On the other hand, José Ignacio González-Núñez, senior vice president of Eutelsat Americas Video, states: “The development of DTH services in the Americas is a strategic objective for Eutelsat and we are delighted to be able to take advantage of our 117° West prime video neighborhood to expand the pay television offering in Mexico and beyond.”
