Elena Manrique shoots her first feature film 'The party is over'
The Clapperboard PC, Story Capital and Perdición Films produce 'The party is over', Elena Manrique's first foray into feature film as a director with a vocation to go beyond the space of experimentation.
Filming has begun in Huelva with a story focused on characters straddling two worlds, between two vital states, which you love, but at the same time you can't stand. For your whims and needs.
The script, also written by Elena Manrique, was selected to participate in the scriptwriting workshop of the Mediterranean Film Institute, where in other editions they selected Spanish titles of recent great success such as Alcarras y 20,000 species of bees.
E. Martínez, Sonia Barba and Beatriz Arjona star in this “Andalusian Gothic” story. Manrique comments that “The party is over It is a story in the most classic sense of the word. Like all those classic stories, our story also raises a reflection on survival, and how personal effort and luck—yes, luck or lack thereof always appears—can help us transcend an implacable destiny.”
The party is over has the production by Olmo Figueredo González-Quevedo, Belén Atienza and Sandra Hermida, as well as the executive production of Sara Gómez, for La Claqueta PC, Story Capital AIE and Perdición Films, in co-production with Menuetto Films (Belgium).
It has the help of the Ministry of Culture ICAA, the support of the Andalusian Agency of Cultural Institutions, Creative Europe MEDIA and the Eurimages fund and the participation of RTVE and Movistar Plus+. Wild Bunch is responsible for international sales.
After more than 20 years dedicated to film and television production, The party is over Elena Manrique's first foray as director of a feature film with the aim of going beyond the space of experimentation. During this time, Elena has directed medium-length films, shorts and various audiovisual creation pieces of a very diverse nature: 60 Minutes (within LittleSecretFilms), Christmas dinner (short inspired by The Artist), Another Man Another Day (within the framework of the Sitges Festival), among other works.
I also participated in the script of Delirium City by Chus Gutierrez, and has been working as a producer since 2000. Among the titles in which she has participated, the following stand out: Cell 211 by Daniel Monzón, The Orphanage by J. A. Bayona, Kiki, love is made by Paco León and Pan's Labyrinth by Guillermo del Toro.
