FORTA and RTVE will promote new policies to promote equality in public radio and television

The highest representatives of FORCE y RTVE have agreed to undertake new actions and strategies to consolidate equality policies on public television.

The agreement has been ratified in a meeting in which they have participated Elena Sánchez Caballero, interim president of RTVE; Cascajosa Conception, president of the RTVE equality observatory, Carmen Amores García, president of FORTA; Enrique Lauricia, general director of FORTA, and Francisco Moreno, sole administrator of Radiotelevisión Canaria. The meeting is part of the joint work actions of the Compostela Convention, signed by RTVE and FORTA in July 2021.

The agreements acquired at the meeting will bear fruit in initiatives such as the exchange of experiences; he development of equality plans without skimping on “as many tools as necessary” to guarantee non-discrimination based on sex in the work environment, as well as in the content production that “favor the change towards a more egalitarian society.” In this sense, it has been proposed to study the possibility of creating a work group with the aim of exchanging information about the current situation of each organization.

To continue working in this direction, FORTA and RTVE will soon offer a seminar dedicated to good practices and challenges in equality, sponsored by the equality observatories of both corporations.
