El sonido directo de 'La sociedad de la nieve', Goya 2024

Jorge Adrados, Oriol Tarragó and Marc Orts receive the Goya for Best Sound for 'The Snow Society' by J.A. Bayona, great winner of the evening in the technical categories.

The search for the silence of the snow and its rupture in the most extreme moments of the film have allowed it to captivate academics, who have recognized the work of Oriol Tarra and Marc Orts in the design and sound construction of The snow society, a veteran duo that has more than 25 years of continuous work.

Jorge Adrados, responsible for direct sound, has been responsible for rounding out the commitment of the film produced by Netflix España, covered extensively by the team Deluxe Spain in room.

When it comes to tackling the sound in this film, whose experience in cinemas multiplies its scope with a forceful immersive audio mixingAdrados considers that the main objective of the technical team has been to capture the dialogues in the best possible way to avoid them having to be recreated afterwards.

It has not been an easy task, given the challenging filming conditions: "It was a complex job because the actors had a lot of costumes or because, for example, the fuselage was very small and it was very difficult to insert the boom, which we solved with microphones connected by radio. It was a lot of work that my team and I put in."

Despite this notable work to achieve the best possible capture of dialogues, Adrados has also recognized all the steps in the chain that have ended up leading to the award of the Goya to The snow society: “Cuanto mejor grabado y ‘más arriba”’esté la captación de sonido, mejor resultado dará, pero ha sido muy importante darle esa continuidad en postproducción”, reconoce el técnico, quien ha tenido que captar hasta el más mínimo detalle sonoro y darle autenticidad fueran las escenas rodadas a 3.000 metros de altitud o desde la comodidad de los estudios de producción virtual.
