Dutch television RTV Drenthe integrates the Odin IP intercom system from RTS

The Odin intercom system RTS has allowed Dutch television RTV Drenthe continue taking steps towards transversally adopting the SMPTE ST 2110 IP standard.

RTV Drenthe is the regional public broadcaster for the Dutch province of Drenthe, in the northeast of the Netherlands. With the aim of being a reliable and independent source of information for the half million inhabitants of the province, the television network issues the 24 hours a day a wide range of news, music and talk programs.

To help RTV Drenthe modernize its operations, the broadcaster worked with local RTS partner, Amptec, to upgrade your intercom system. After exploring the market, the chain's technical management chose the matrix Odin of RTS, which is already installed in the radio and television control room in a 48 port configuration, as well as six control panels from the series KP. Choosing Odin has facilitated the migration of RTV Drenthe to IP workflows by offering three flexible redundancy options: backup and restore, sharing frame and redundant operations frame.

The order also includes a Roameo wireless intercom system based on DECT, selected to improve equipment efficiency and mobility. To do this, they have combined four TR-1800 wireless beltpacks for production staff with a pair of AP-1800 access points for wide coverage. As a result, the Roameo system offers the RTS Drenthe team flexibility to move and communicate freely within the facility.

Reflecting on the new setup, the station is “very pleased” with the possibilities created by its investment in this system. According to Martin Woering, technology coordinator and project director of RTV Drenthe: "Last month, RTV Drenthe's new television production went live, marking an important milestone after months of dedicated research, design, construction and configuration. The entire team is delighted with the new equipment."
