Telefónica relies on Haivision's 5G mobile technology for its centenary concert
Coinciding with the Mobile World Congress 2024, Telefónica organized a concert offered by the Chinese pianist Lang Lang with holographic technologies and 5G connectivity offered by Haivision.
At the Telefónica centenary concert, Just Just performed popular classics by Bach, Debussy, Beethoven, Manuel de Falla and Mozart in front of a large LED screen which showcased exciting technologies with live interaction with the audience through a virtual conductor and the audience's mobile devices used as lighters. The staging served to show the potential of 5G technology in a key moment: when Lang Lang performed two pieces on a Steinway Spirio Series R piano as a hologram, while simultaneously playing on a holographic piano.
Leveraging Haivision's 5G mobile video transmission technology, the tool Musion 3D transmitted ultra-low latency video and audio for holographic projection during the concert. UHD holographic images are encoded and transmitted via a private 5G network, provided by Ericsson, while two aerial keyboard videos were transmitted via mobile video transmitters Haivision Pro460. The signals were decoded with a Haivision StreamHub receiver before being distributed as holographic images. Finally, the MIDI signal from Lang Lang's keyboard was transported using the DataBridge of Haivision StreamHub to the Spirio mechanical piano that was being played by the hologram.
