FreeLens TV records the reality show 'Take Off' with a workflow of Blackmagic cameras
A wide selection of solutions Blackmagic, including cameras, mixers and DaVinci post-production software, have allowed the production company FreeLens TV give shape to 'Take Off', a new reality show concept based on the world of science and innovation.
Take Off comes to RTL Luxembourg matching science and innovation with the world of reality television and game shows. The program faces 12 participants each other in a series of challenges, which culminate in a grand finale.
As he relates Yann Figuet of FreeLens TV, production company behind the show, the use of Blackmagic Design equipment has been “fundamental” to achieving its goal of implementing a live multi-camera workflow. To capture images, FreeLens TV used a combination of units Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2 y Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K, powered by a series of cameras PTZ: “When transmitting in HD, we combine the URSA Mini models with different B4 lenses and add a device to each unit Blackmagic Fiber Converter, which provides a return signal to the operator, in addition to offering camera control, communication system and indicator light.”
The elements of virtual production, energized by Unreal Engine, further optimized the viewer's experience, as Figue explains: "Our goal is to educate and include the audience in the show through an immersive narrative. By using Unreal Engine along with Blackmagic Design technology, we were able to seamlessly integrate virtual elements in our live productions, which enhances the educational value of the program.”
Likewise, it was possible to manage the different signals from the cameras, including those of isolated recordings and those of the production of the Internet broadcast, thanks to the use of several devices HyperDeck Studio 4K Pro y Videohub 40×40 12G: "In order to distribute the different signals, a pair of Videohub 40x40 12G matrices were used. One was assigned to the inputs and outputs of the ATEM Constellation 8K model, with an additional matrix responsible for the signals for the 43 isolated signal recorders." Finally, the live-mounted signal was reprocessed into DaVinci Resolve Studio to perform multi-camera editing and image finalization.
