SAPEC - RIST - Vidtrans24 - Laguna Octal

The conference and exhibition Vidtrans24 held in Marina del Rey (California, USA) included a demonstration of the capacity of the Laguna de Sapec to work with the open RIST (Reliable Internet Stream Transport) protocol.

Vidtrans, annual conference of Video Services Forum (VSF), brings together annually the service providers, users and manufacturers focused on fields such as interoperability and training around network technologies. The 2024 edition had an extensive program of activities in which topics of special interest to the development of the broadcast world, such as cloud-based production, implementation of protocols such as IPMX or RIST, he monitored networks or the technology applied to the production of live sports.

SAPEC - RIST - Vidtrans24Sapec was invited to be part of this event to demonstrate her ability to manage audiovisual content transported with RIST through a technical demonstration. Promoted by the Video Service Forum itself, this protocol designed to transport content over the public internet has important advantages: it is an open and standardized protocol without a proprietary company behind it; has support for multicast; It has maximum security encryption systems such as PSK (Pre-Shared Key) or DTLS (Datagram Transport Layer Security); bonding capabilities, and packet correction in case of loss that can reach 45% of the content.

The leading solution in Sapec's interoperability tests was the UHD/HD/SD multichannel platform Laguna, compatible with HEVC, H.264 and MPEG-2 standards. One of the models in this family of products was responsible for sending an HD signal 1080i25 with coding H.264 from Madrid to California during all the days of the event. It did so uninterruptedly and without service interruptions at any time.

Juan José Anaya, technical director of Sapec, values the experience at Vidtrans very positively and advances the arrival of RIST to Laguna: "With the imminent arrival of RIST, we will expand the range of public IP transport protocols that Laguna supports. In this way, Sapec demonstrates that it is prepared to be completely flexible and adapt to the current and future needs of its clients and partners."

Sapec will be present at the next edition of NAB Show 2024 in Las Vegas (April 13 – 17), an event in which it will show important improvements for existing products, such as the transport of signals under the RIST protocol through Laguna.
