Grass Valley to bring UHD digital recording and playback to venues and stadiums with T3
The new T3 UHD from Grass Valley, evolution of the T2 series, comes to offer recording, playback, transcoding and more functions from a single device.
As a replacement for the standalone digital recorder/player T2 4K of Grass Valley, the T3 expands the 4K and HD multichannel features and capabilities of its predecessor. The new system allows simultaneous recording and playback up to two 4K video channels, or until three HD channels. Its robust construction, internal support and multiple codec conversion, as well as its intuitive user interface, makes it adapt to the main demands of the production of live events on site. Likewise, the system has improved its close integration with EDIUS, making editing in numerous file formats quick and easy, including support for recording editing and file export.
T3 works as a independent unit, simplifying setup and operation, and contributing to overall production efficiency. Grass Valley's new system can be easily integrated into larger production environments with support for a wide range of control protocols. On the other hand, taking advantage of its improved hosting platform, the T3 offers a more compact chassis which allows the rack depth to be reduced by 20 percent compared to its predecessor. Also supports optional GPU acceleration for greater flexibility and customization of channels and formats.
Grass Valley believes that what truly sets the T3 apart from other similar offerings on the market is the “exceptional range of recording, playback and networking formats natively supported." These features include SDI and NDI inputs and outputs; AMP, VDCP, BVW, GPIO, timecode chasing, and more for remote control; 4K recording formats, such as Grass Valley HQX (MXF, AVI), Apple ProRes (MXF), and Avid DNxHR (MXF); HD/SD recording formats, such as Grass Valley HQX (MXF, AVI) Apple ProRes (MXF), Avid DNxHD (MXF) and XDCAM (MXF); 4K/HD/SD playback formats, support for various container formats and codecs, and optional support for
To Akio Inoue, product manager of Grass Valley publishing systems, the T3 "solves the industry's pressing operational business challenge for unrestricted multi-channel stand-alone recording and playback in 4K and HD with reliability at the heart of it." “The T3 has been designed from the beginning to be reliable, easy to use and versatile; it offers users fast autonomous operations and superior performance,” he noted.
