José Pablo López and the 14 RTVE councilors take office

The Hall of Lost Steps of the Congress of Deputies has hosted the inauguration that represents the umpteenth restructuring of the leadership of RTVE, led by the presidency of José Pablo López.

The president of Congress, Francina Armengol, has received the president and the new counselors and the Senior Lawyer of the Cortes Generales has read the agreement of the Plenary Session of Congress by which the Jose Pablo Lopez president of the Corporation. He was the first to pronounce the formula for compliance with the Constitution.

After swearing or promising their position, the same formula has been repeated with the four appointed by the Senate: Eladio Jareño, Rubén Moreno, Ignacio Ruiz Jarabo y Marina Vila.

The event was attended by the Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Cortes, Felix Bolaños; the minister for Digital Transformation and Public Service, Oscar Lopez; the Secretary of State for Communication, Francesc Valles; the Secretary of State for Relations with the Cortes, Rafael Simancas; the president of SEPI, Belen Gualda; spokespersons for the parliamentary groups of the Congress and the Senate and members of the Boards of both Chambers.

Francina Armengol He closed the event by expressing his gratitude to Jose Pablo Lopez and to the new directors for the commitment acquired with Spanish society. In his own words: "After years of instability and blockage of RTVE, I hope and wish that a fruitful era will begin. A plural and diverse council has been elected by the Cortes to represent a Spanish society that is also plural and diverse."

Likewise, Armengol thanked the RTVE workers “his immense work” and has highlighted the important role of the media and the right of citizens to have truthful information. “We are living in complex times of misinformation and RTVE's responsibility is absolutely fundamental,” he stressed.

The appointment of José Pablo López as president of RTVE went ahead on Thursday, November 28 in the second round, by an absolute majority.
