National general channels register a historic low in 2024
The hearing report “The balance GECA Year 2024” sheds interesting perspectives on television audience data from last year, highlighting the downward trend of national general channels, which with 47.5% of the share continue their downward trend.
The drop in the share of national channels, led by the decreases in Antenna 3 and Telecinco, is accompanied by the fall of 0.5% of public autonomous regions, which remain in a 7.8% of the share after a great stage built on great news coverage and proximity information. TV3 (13.7%; -0.2) is a leader followed by Aragon TV (11.6%; +0.1), which equals the annual maximum in its history. tvg (8.6%; -2.4) completes the podium, however, it is the channel that loses the most screen share in 2024, also registering its annual minimum in its history. IB3 (5.2%) remains above the 5.0% barrier, being the autonomous channel that has grown the most in the year by adding two tenths.
On the contrary, DTT thematic channels go up still 29,9% (+0.1) and the thematic channels payment to 10,9 (+0,5) promoted by LaLiga TV on M+ and Dazn LaLiga, channels above 0.30% share. Canal Hollywood completes the podium with a 0.25% share, followed by three hundredths of Star Channel (0.22%; -0.06). As it could not be otherwise, the Real Madrid – Barcelona classic on April 21 broadcast on LaLiga TV on M+ was the most watched broadcast of the year on pay with almost 2,164,000 viewers.
