Cineteca Madrid incorporates a Christie CP4415-RGB projector

The Film library of Matadero Madrid, located in the emblematic cultural center of the city, has taken a step towards technological innovation by installing the projector Christie CP4415-RGB pure RGB laser in its main room, the Azcona Room.

Madrid Slaughterhouse It is the Center for Contemporary Creation of the Madrid City Council. Located in the city's old municipal slaughterhouse, in the Legazpi neighborhood, this complex of 48 buildings has been rehabilitated to become a multifunctional space dedicated to art and contemporary culture, consolidating itself as one of the most important cultural strongholds in the capital.

Uno de sus espacios más destacados es la Cineteca, inaugurada en 2011 en el lugar ocupado por las neveras y caldera del antiguo matadero. Está especializada en el cine alternativo de no ficción y alberga tres salas de proyección: Azcona, Plató y Borau.

The Azcona Room, named in honor of the famous screenwriter Rafael Azcona, is the most spectacular auditorium thanks to its woven basket design with irrigation hoses that serve as lighting for the ceiling and walls, generating a futuristic atmosphere that has made it one of the most original rooms in Europe. It has a capacity of 236 seats and a screen measuring 8.70 x 3.70 meters.

4K and RGB pure laser

The decision to incorporate the projector Christie CP4415-RGB responded to the need to modernize this flagship room of the Cineteca, which until now had a lamp projector Christie CP2000 Serie 1. “With this new installation, we sought to equip the room with 4K technology and pure RGB laser lighting to further improve the visual quality of the projections and have a more efficient solution,” he explains. The acquisition of the new equipment was carried out through a public tender, which was awarded to Ingevideo, Christie's partner. “The Christie CP4415-RGB projector was the ideal choice for the Azcona Room, as it enables a high-fidelity visual experience with operational efficiency that ensures a low total cost of ownership,” he explains. In that sense, the CP4415-RGB is a 18% more efficient than its competitors, producing 11.9 lumens per watt. Lower energy costs reduce total cost of ownership by 38%. This compact, all-in-one, DCI-compliant projector is equipped with the electronics Christie CineLife+ and the Real Laser lighting technology.

Piqueras adds that "the CP4415-RGB allows the Cineteca to impress the public with extraordinarily colorful, detailed and realistic images. Thanks to its wide color spectrum, which reproduces more than 95% of the Rec. 2020 color space, it creates much richer images, significantly improving the visual experience."

Víctor Díaz also highlights the benefits that the new projector has brought in terms of service: "The old projector required greater maintenance and lamp replacement. With the new Christie CP4415-RGB, we have noticed a significant optimization in terms of ease of maintenance. Now, the equipment requires almost no interventions, only occasional filter changes, which not only improves operational efficiency, but also significantly reduces costs and downtime."

And he concludes by stating that "the truth is that we are delighted with the new machine, which represents the latest in cinema projection technology.
